Antonio Álvarez Desanti, is a Costa Rican businessman and politician, currently affiliated with the Partido Liberación Nacional (PLN) in Costa Rica. During his political career Alvarez Desanti has served as minister of agriculture, minister of gobernacion (a post close to that of minister of the interior in other countries), congressman and president of the Asamblea Legislativa (Costa Rican unicameral parliament) in 1995. On May 1, 2016 Alvarez Desanti was elected for a second time as president of the Asamblea Legislativa Antonio Alvarez-Desanti gana la presidencia la asamblea legislativa. Alvarez Desanti and his wife are active in the banana growing industry in Costa Rica.
