I took a walk up the Baskett Slough Wildlife Refuge trail Yrs ago on a summer evening. Seeing deer everywhere. About a half mile up
I heard something in the brush and two little ones popped out and just missed running into me. They stopped and stared
and then started playing in a little clearing, bouncing around like pups. Mom came out a minute later and wasn't even concerned just started browsing. Its a great place to take your kids to maybe see some closeup deer. I've had bucks and does cross the trail just 5-10 feet in front of me. They know they're safe in there and are used to seeing humans.
