Owls may be cool, but there's an old Native saying that says that if an owl hoots at you, its bad luck.
Had that happen once. Thing flew down from a tree and stood on the ground right in front of me and hooted a couple of times.
I thought it was cool at the time....rest of the month ended up being one of the biggest pains I'd had in a long, long time.

Went for a hike yesterday before last years Weyco access permit ends. Getting my bearings of all the new cuts in prep for Archery season.
I saw a doe, 3 grouse and this little feller at about 70 yards.

This may sound strange but I have been friends with this momma deer and her last 3 generations of youngsters. She had the Buck Last year. He's my buddy. He lays down outside my bedroom at times. Momma or Buckey will stand behind me and watch me in the yard. They get pretty close some times and catch me off guard. We really enjoy them.
