Enjoying the Gin & Tonics, watching Animal House, and building the lists, as I'll be working straight through the weekend. Fortunately, I believe we'll be visiting some funky friends Saturday night for various antics. Failing that, we'll hit the casino for dinner, drinks, and cards. Things are ever so loco, but I have learned long ago to delight in the creative chaos. Cheers, amigos! :D

IMO the best budget bourbon you can buy.

Just made up a dry Martini. Watching the 2019 film The Highwaymen. Not sure about the picture yet, though it hasn't been bad thus far. It is feeding my interest in classic firearms, NFA-regulated and otherwise. :D

What's the red stuff?

I figured out a dirty "martini" I like tonight,
New Deal Gin No. 1
Couple barspoons olive brine
A few dashes of celery bitters

Apparently this is alcoholic discovery week for me. I typically don't like beer but I found one I like tonight, Mother of All Storms by Pelican Brewing, a 14% ABV english barleywine. Tastes like bakers chocolate lightly drizzled with molasses.

Now this ^^ sounds good. Celery bitters huh? I prefer a Gibson though, with Burnette's/Gilbey's. Stirred not shaken, with an extra onion please. Nothing like it after a hard, cold, damp day. Problem is, two of them and I turn into a lump on the sofa. That's why the majority of the time I just have a couple beers.

Gin and Tonic with a twist of lime. And a side of fatigue and muscle soreness. Been some weeks since I've had a day off. But to quote the immortal words of one Crow T. Robot — "Even in the future, booze satisfies!"

If you want something special for next year around Christmas. Something to share with a couple of special friends/beer lovers in your life. Might I recommend trying a 4-pack of Schloss Eggenberg Samichlaus Helles.

Apparently it's a bit of a trick to get an order in. They make it, in Austria, once a year in December and age it for 10 months. I had one once in 2008 when my brother got a couple of 4-packs. I still have one he gave me that was brewed in 2007, waiting for a special time/person to share it with. I'm reading now that 2007 was the first year it had been brewed since 1986.
