In the spirite of variety is the spice of life, I may have to try this soon. Otherwise I just drink Blended or Bourbon whiskey on the rocks.

I was thirsty and drank 2 Rockstars this evening. Now my damned ears are ringing. Probably not the best idea to drink that much caffeine before bed. :D

Tom Collins at the casino bar. (Planned meeting in Medford was a bust, so had the afternoon after all. After a lengthy debate between blasting metallic silhouettes with .44 Magnums or Blackjack and drinks. Opted for the latter and left the table ahead, so why not a cool one?)

Last night... Can't say that I've never had a bad night kicking back when Johnnie with the Black Label being my go-to. My boss got me the bottle for my birthday.. I knew there was a reason I loved this job.

What gin did you opt for and did they make the Collins from scratch or with Collins mix?

Gin was Tanqueray, but didn't pay enough attention to know if it was the mix. Considering the speed to delivery, and the fact where I was is a one horse town, I'm going to assume they went El cheapo. :s0112:

LOL! Figures!!! Mainstream places always go cheap when it comes to mixed drinks! Would you believe it that I was in Northside Chicago a couple years back, asked a bartender if she could make an Old Fashioned and a Tom Collins to which she replied; "what the hell is that" and shot us the look of death.

I appreciate awesomely crafted traditional drinks and long ago I had a Collins recipe made with powdered sugar, lemon juice, simple syrup and some other items. Sadly it was lost along with an old phone but I'm always on the hunt for a good one. Also, the best gin barnone for me was Bombay Saphire and Beefeater.

It's a lost art .
It's gone nobody can make a good drink anymore.
It's all about speed and volume.
Take the order and make the drink.
As fast as you can.
Oh yeah don't forget to take the money.

What's even crazier to me is Chicago being at the center of prohibition with what seemed like two or three bars on every block. Yet a bartender can't make an original cocktail? It was surely a "facepalm" moment and I hope the art of mixology isn't lost in the future generations...
