On Tuesday, June 20, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources ("DNR") has scheduled a public meeting in Mason County to provide an update on planning for the possible construction of a target shooting range in the Tahuya State Forest. Last year, DNR held a series of public meetings for the people of Washington to voice their opinion on how to preserve and enhance recreational opportunities in Washington's state forests. One of the proposed ideas was to develop a shooting range to provide gun owners with an environment where they can practice using their firearms safely and effectively. A number of possible sites have been identified for a new range and DNR would like to hear input from the public on these locations. Meeting details can be found below. Keeping public lands open for target shooting is one of the NRA's top priorities. We will continue to fight and ensure that Washington's rich shooting and outdoor heritage is preserved for future generations.
