Or the 70's style gas lines.
And their gas prices are nothing special. Not uncommon to find lower priced gas in another part of town. They do like other stations and check prices in THEIR area and price accordingly. I must PAY for the privilege to buy there, THEY, should have a set mark-up. We don't normally buy gas at Costco.
Before we got self serve, sometimes there'd be one of their pumpers that would be a DICK and chastise me for hanging up the nozzle myself. KMA was my response.

I know it's not the healthiest choice, but I've been known to indulge in the occasional fast food binge every now and then.

Back in the day (late 90s), I could do so for a few bucks, because Burger King Whoppers were 99 cents.

I went by BK the other day for the first time in years, and - lo and behold, the Whopper is now more than $8… for just the sandwich

WOW.

I remember 15 cents a gallon for gas, in my 41 chevy.

A lot of "living wage" rhetoric is powered by Socialist ideas. The demand that someone's labor which produces very little value to society at a fast food joint or at a Hot Topic store should by necessity equal trade value for everyone else's labor, products, and technology, is ludicrous.
The Socialist always require the people to give up commonsense before the communist take over. It's usually food related. In modern times I guess the food/jobs will go hand in hand. Say a generation of truly unskilled Americans should just about do the job. Hate guns. Already reading Mao. No allegiance to America.

Just hearing this morning on boys (KXL 101.1) That a new minimum wage law of $20.00/hour is starting up and the layoffs are happening. EXCEPT, as it was reported, for businesses that deal with a product a company makes from scratch and sells, "Panera Bread", for instance. They are exempt from the new law. And as reported, the owner of Panera has been a big donor to, are you ready for this? Gavin Newsome!

This is why every fast food joint in CA will now bake bread. Loaf me bro! 👀 😮

I think it's probably easier to just let 'em all go and automate. That seems like what fast food has been working on for several years now. Try going into a McD's and stepping up to the Counter. There's likely no one there. You have machines in the lobby to order on. So the people working in the back will ignore you. You wanna know what the problem with that is? You need a F'ING CODE to get in the F'ING BATHROOM!!!

Fortunately, there are plenty of items that the average consumer can cut out to help offset inflation, Fast food, $7 mochas, driving a gas sucking ginormous truck back and forth to the grocery store and office job, subscriptions, car payments, credit card interest, phone leases... the list goes on and on.

THIS! The problem of course is so many have been raised to think they are entitled to the best cell phone, video game, internet, coffee, and on and on. When they can't afford it they will scream for law makers to "fix it". Law makers will gladly step in and turn things to 💩 for them in exchange for the votes. :s0092:

Ding ding ding!!!! I drove junk cars and took cans in to buy ammo to go hunting, a coffee or a fancy phone wasn't even in my vocabulary when I was a young man

Yup, older folks know how to sacrifice. And understand what it's like to go without. Younger folks could never do it, they've been raised to be entitled or cry about it.

$7 for a latte, back in my day a regular coffee with cream was .25-.30…. Children just don't understand…

It really is often sad for me to watch this slow motion train wreck. I have at times literally gone hungry. Well remember times I would have removed a digit to have the job I have now. So when some I work with tell me they don't understand why I often go above and beyond what is required at work they don't get it. When I tell them its called work ethic. I have been without and appreciate what I have now. Going a little extra to me is nothing, like when I am doing some work at home on my own time. Simple things I can do online. A lot of my co workers think this strange. I just shrug. If / when, we have another good crash and there are not employer's begging people to come to work a LOT of these people are going to not have a clue how to live. :(

Since donors get this "exemption" I have no doubt others will work a way around also getting it. Then soon the media there will be blaming the companies doing this as greedy and using "loop holes". Just as with taxes what the press will NEVER admit is what they call loopholes are created by the same law makers who stand there in front of camera's saying how bad this is. Then laugh up their sleeve as soon as the camera is off.
