Heres a question for the discussion....

What level of armed training is required:
to stop a mugging,
to stop a carjacking,
to stop a store armed robber,
to stop a mall shooter,
to stop a school shooter,

Now ask yourself what level of training the Ulvade police dept had?
As a full time job or as a private citizen?

There are about half the states in the U.S. that DO allow firearms (other than trained professionals) on school grounds in one form or another.

Name me one case where an authorized person (parent/teacher/school employee) suddenly "snapped" and started dropping bodies.

I'll wait...... ;)
Heck. Let's take it a step further. No firearms on school grounds policies/laws are relatively new, in the grand scheme of US history.

Name cases when it's happened at any time recently or pre prohibitions.

Armed security for school kids, whether teachers or a professional organization is NOT the same as me carrying at the mall. My time at the mall is to shop, not guard everyone. That's my personal carry to protect me and my family. An armed teacher or guard protecting a whole school is completely different.

Yes, I carry at work. Everywhere. :)
Nobodys talking about making it a requirement for an armed teacher to guard the school.

so your allowed to carry at work but a teacher should not be allowed?
I never said teachers shouldn't be allowed. I said I didn't think forcibly arming teachers is a good idea and there are better options.

And I don't work in a classroom full of children either.

Well then I would be off topic. We are talking about teachers, and arming them as part of their full time job to teach and care for kids.

Carrying as part of a job is different.
Im talking about everyone, including teachers, being able to exercise their constitutional right.

agree, Im not talking about tasking them with stopping a school shooter or making it mandatory. That said, I do think if teachers were armed some of the school shootings would have been stopped.

My bad if I gave the wrong impression.
There should be NO policy that requires teachers to be armed in defense of their class or school.

I think that's pretty much the point? I don't think teachers should be stopped from legally carrying, but I don't think they are the best or most qualified for securing the schools and our kids. Hence some actual full time armed security. Don't discount the difference between full time security and full time teacher. Can one really do both jobs well?

Im not certain I understand your question.

I dont see any harm in this amed teacher story though...
I didn't mean good defensive actions.

The argument being made was that teachers shouldn't be allowed to be armed in schools because they will "snap" and start dropping their students bodies.

I asked to show cases of that happening anytime in our history. To me, that argument is void of any founding while... as you linked... there are ample examples of armed defensive cases that actually have and would save lives.

agree, Im an advocate for full time armed security in public schools.

That's exactly the argument the woke make though. Armed teachers pose a threat to our children.
My bad, I got my reply mixed up somehow. I agree with you....

The idea of prohibiting everyone because -a person- "might" snap is total socialist gun control.
