Not the manufacturer. Blade HQ and others dont care.
Had never heard of them but looks nice. Had some fine knives at what looked to me to be nice price. Picked out an auto knife I liked and went through the checkout and it did not stop me. So I have to guess WA has given up on the ban of these here. Makes me wonder when they did but cool. When I get home from work will look at that sight again. Always need another nice blade. :D

I love automatic knives. Not sure all automatic knives are "switchblades" or not?
Not a lawyer and no Holiday Inn and all but, have always just guessed that the places with laws against them mean any kind of auto open knife. That sight that Wired mentioned had some they listed as CA legal. They had very short blades. The site also had this little blurb about them

Whether you call them automatic knives, switchblades, OTF knives, or even Italian Stilettos, this category of knife is always expanding. No matter what you call them, automatic knives have been making moms nervous since 1958 when Congress passed the Federal Switchblade Act, which has restricted these types of knives in some areas. As you consider getting your own automatic knife, make sure to check your local laws to see if carrying a switchblade is legal in your area.

I carry them whenever I want. Concealed has been shown to be a very loose definition with pocket clip being enough to be not concealed. Plus I don't give a bubblegum. So there's that I guess. :s0112:

That brass one above is too heavy for edc. We use small bowie automatic to open boxes. Some others don't get used much. One I use for garden stuff. These boker kalashnikov style are impossible to kill.

In-between doing what they pay me to do here I was playing on Blad HQ, watching some video. I am sold on knife from them by Pro-Tech. Some damn fine looking knives. They have some that are quite pricey but damn they are really nice looking. Going to order one when I get home. Have many that are actually made here in the US which is nice.

My automatic is a Kershaw, I won it from a raffle at a 4x4 rally here in Oregon where Kershaw is a sponsor.
It's clipped in my right front pocket daily.

I used to EDC a Buck 110 auto elite. Recently the company that I do whatever it is I do for that is located someplace Ive never been or are really sure where it is, decided that if anyone that works for the company was found to have ANY knife on them that they will summarily dismiss them.

I wouldn't buy benchmade personally.
After they pulled that little stupid stunt it was the end of me buying their stuff. Have a couple of their knives that I have had for several decades and they did make nice stuff. Was very disappointed when they did this. Looking at the one sight I have been mentioning here going to try one made by Pro-Tech. Assuming it's as nice when I get it in my hands as it looks? I will be buying some more. They have some damn nice looking blades. Been working a ton of OT lately, looks like I found a good place to spend some of that extra cash :s0140:

Yeah, they paid for that one.

For weeks after they did that I kept shaking my head wondering WTF, who there thought this was a good idea? Like read the room guys, who is your customer base and how is it you think doing something like this, then putting it out online is going to be good for you??

Sure wish gun owners would apply the same logic to politicians and vote the anti2A/milquetoast politicians out  :s0054:

When I got home from work I set up an account with Blade HQ and ordered my first knife from them. Assuming all goes well they will be seeing a lot more of me and my money. They should send Wired a T-shirt of something for mentioning them. They have what looks so far to be some DAMN nice toys there. :D

Add Disney to that. They have damn near run the place to bankrupt and they keep doubling down.
Eh, I kept Disney + because they have the old Star Wars movies and Indiana Jones movies, classic Disney movies, some relatively educational content like National Geography, even though its now pushing "human caused" climate change  , some old stuff that my kids seem to like, and my daughter's favorite, Moana

Ive bought all my knives over the last 10 years from them. They deliver

As a follow up finally got the knife I ordered. They shipped it FedEx, so there was a couple missfires as so often happens with them 🤬
Knife is VERY nice though. First thing I did after trying it out was order a couple more knives from this place. Couple smaller versions of this one. One will be for Wife as I know she will love it. Wired they should send you something for telling me about them as they are going to be seeing some money from me :s0140:

For WA at least, knives are also regulated city by city. So what may be legal at the state level isn't within certain cities.
