I can almost guarantee politicians are using this to influence public opinion via social media already. And I don't mean in a conspiracy way, I only mean it's an extremely effective way to manipulate people on a huge scale (which is what politics is pretty much).

It seems tailor made for things like that. AI could automate millions of scripted posts in no time, gradually manipulating people into thinking or doing something in a certain way. 2) Whomever achieves superintelligent AI first wins the world.

no safeguards. The idea really sounds like part anarchy and part "do this now before we are 2 or 3 more generations in when it can do real damage."

A bunch of companies have fired their ethics staff and dove head first into releasing these AI's to be first to market. They all know by next year most of us will have an AI on their phone doing absolutely everything for them, knowing and learning about everyone way more than google can now. It would be like knowing everything we know now about how valuable information is and going back in time to when google started. Microsoft actually just announced GPT4 will be built into windows 11.

ChaosGPT isnt some rogue project with their own AI. They just prompted microsoft's AI to act this way. I doubt it will do any major damage but they have given it the ability to do its own programing and run its own code (something GPT4 is very good at). So it might cause some mischief. Perhaps that will make these companies think twice about firing all their ethics people.

But better it does it now before all of us have GPT6 on our Iphone 17 running our self-diving telsa 5s or whatever.
