BREAKING: One person was killed and three others were wounded in an early-morning shooting at Northern Arizona University before the shooter was taken into custody, police said early Friday.

Eric Dieterle, a spokesman for the Flagstaff university, told Fox News the shooting occurred in a parking lot near Mountain View Hall, a student residence located on the eastern edge of campus near the school's football stadium.

Dieterle said the shooting happened at approximately 1:20 a.m. local time. Mountain View Hall residents were told to stay indoors, but the campus was not placed on lockdown. It was not immediately clear whether the shooter or victims were students.

Dieterle said the wounded victims were being treated at Flagstaff Medical Center near the NAU campus, but their conditions are unknown.

NAU is a public university with over 27,000 students, about 20,000 of whom are enrolled at the school's main campus in Flagstaff.

Where else in society (other than on private property) are so many citizens allowed to congregate without a perportional-number of police officers nearby to protect and serve?

They have police at sporting events...
They have police in funeral processions...
Lots of LEOS surrounding the political orators....

Several thousand citizens congregated in one public area deserves an appropriate number of LEOs.

This event occurring at 01:30 isn't anywhere near the type of attack at UCC and at least the perp was aprehended.

This wasn't in a classroom. This was a fight that escalated and just "happened" to be at a school.

I just worked with a client this morning who's son is at that school... he showed me the text messages between them. It was two groups of "boys" who got into a fight... then stupidity took over.
