You can sell to someone in Oregon but you must go through an FFL if you live in another state. To sell person to person you must be a resident of the same state.
 
What deadeye said. There is one exception, if the buyer has a C&R and the gun is a C&R. C&R=curio and relic, basically 50 years old or more. ATF has a list of C&R guns. Some AR's well be on that list soon.

That is not an exception since that is NOT a private sale. That is a sale to an FFL which is legal and has its own rules.
