As a State, it seems like we're at the bottom of almost every important societal metric. I just don't get it, other than if this were a private company, it'd be a "corporate culture" issue.

I get it. Some people are so committed to their ideology that they ignore its blatant failure, either consciously or subconsciously to maintain their ideology. In Seattle, it seems like a corpse with a D behind its name would win an election over a person promoting individual responsibility and arresting people for criminal acts.
