Savage Arms Model 840 30-30 ammo compatability question.

I inherited a Savage Arms Model 840 30-30 version. Will modern tips such as ballistic tips, silver tips, or anything but soft points work with this rifle? To me the magazine doesn't look as it will hold modern tips.
