I am not much of a machinest and I am less of a gunsmith but I guess you can't learn nuttin if you don't do nuttin.

I bought a cheap 11.5" AR barrel and was disappointed when it showed up today at how chunky it was. I've never tried it before but I figured I didn't have much to lose by trying to get rid of some weight.

I think I lost 3/4 of a pound at least. Seems reasonable now.

If it shoots straight and doesn't blow up I'll call it a success!

In the pic it's taped off with electrical tape so I could bead blast it. I then just warmed it up with a torch to drive out the water and shot it with some high heat stove black. It is all under the rail so I think it should be fine



So you folks that know something, what did I do wrong?
