My point is that I was glad to see that there is at least one school staff member who is willing to put her career at risk in order to protect the kids at her school.

Shirley Katz's case first garnered national attention two years ago when she went public with her desire to carry the gun. She argued that she needed to protect herself from a former spouse, against whom she had filed multiple restraining orders.
At the time, school officials statewide were concerned that giving Katz the green light would allow teachers to bring concealed handguns into schools. The Virginia Tech massacre in April 2007 and other school shootings drew an outpouring of support and outrage for Katz's quest.

Conditions of Employment can be changed. Every school district in Oregon has different rules and some are changing them now.

In South Africa I carried a 1911 concealed for the entire year I taught High school Science and Chemistry. Against the rules? Sure. Never detected, never needed. Suit or Sports jacket & tie formal was required dress code summer and winter. ITWB holster no spare mag.
