    Fearmongering politicos, police departments, and prison guard unions all share a common interest with the drug cartels: they'd never approve legalization. It's against corporate interests and American ideals to place public health issues ahead of profits.

    I guess the Portuguese just could not afford the "War on drugs" any longer. As the economy goes south maybe the people here will realize how expensive it is.
