Anyone know if any survivors? As well as where the B17 was based out of?
Highly unlikely any one made it, the P-63 most certainly didn't, likely didn't even know or register in his mind , one min. he is flying along, the next, he is cleared direct, priority approach to Heaven, Runway 01 Full Stop! The Crew of the B-17 were most likely the same, hopefully it was very quick! Prayers to all the Souls!

Five in the B-17 and single pilot in the P-63. All six died in the crash.
Both aircraft were operated by the American Airpower Heritage Flying Museum, from this article.
RIP, Aviators... :(

NTSB preliminary report is out.

Fighters were directed go in front of bombers to pass the crowd which required them to cross the paths of the bombers. There was no altitude separation plan.

I suspect the final report will put the primary screw up on the air show plan. Secondary will be on the cobra pilot for not being aware of the bomber location, knowing he was going to cross their flight path.
