If something stills does what it was designed to do...then it ain't obsolete.

Just like anything else...pick the firearm that works well for what you need it to do.
Kinda like cars....
If you need to haul something heavy that takes up a lot of room...
You could use a pick up truck.
However...if you wanted to look cool and be able to drive fast...a corvette would work better than the pick up truck..

The 1903 Colt Pocket Hammerless Pistol still works well for what was designed for ....
A sleek and handy self defense pistol that is easy to carry.
So nope...not obsolete.

Nobody who ate a bullet EVER said "yeah, he ONLY shot me with..." Main defect of the 1903 is the lack of a ready spare-parts supply line since the new ones don't interchange with the old.
