Post pics of the katana! The wife is a black belt in mixed martial arts, Kajukenbo and is also trained in edged weapons. So we have a katana sword within reach. Personally I keep a glock and my SX4 handy, loaded with two 00 buckshot in front of two slugs. She can sling her sword around all she wants, I try not to piss her off.
Somewhat just for fun here.
What are some weapons / items you could use for home defense that ain't firearms...?
And yes I know that home defense is much more than firearms or weapons...
Again this is somewhat for fun , or for thinking outside of the box , so to speak.
Below are some of my options / choices.

Them: Why do you keep a garden weasel by your front door?
A spiked bat shows intent to inflict grevious bodily damage, and don't even get me started about booby traps.I will always prefer and prioritize projectile firing objects! So a gun is what is right as far as I'm concerned. Heck I'd rather have a BB/Pellet/Air gun than a knife or any other handheld non projectile firing weapon. If you live somewhere that guns aren't legal, then maybe airsoft is. I'd do that. If your scenario is so extreme that any projectile firing object is not feasible then I guess a machete or spiked/barbed bat would suffice. Maybe just boobytrap the place...
