I am, however, unfamiliar with the acronym NB in that context.

Sure, thanks for asking. NB is an abbreviation for the Latin phrase nota bene, meaning note well. Something I picked up in college decades and decades and decades ago and has stuck with me. I generally use it to emphasize a minor thesis of an argument.

The article states, "The virus is always mutating..." This is essentially what I said, that mutations arise randomly from errors in replication. The process of mutation is not immunity driven. The article further stated that individuals with partial immunity could cause the evolution of vaccine resistant strains. Again, this is essentially what I said. That immunity was responsible for natural selection.

Your post was an incorrect description of the process.

This is a common misconception. Vaccinations work. The data is clear on that. You're far less likely to get as sick or die with the vaccination. The reason people being unvaccinated is a problem, is because it allows the virus to spread through unvaccinated individuals easier, which gives opportunity for more mutations.

Bargaining- begging people to get vaccinated. Now I sit in limbo between depression and acceptance. I don't think I will fully hit acceptance with a virus where severe disease is preventable with a vaccine. I look back to other pandemics. The Spanish flu, that came in two waves. The second wave was the most deadly it lasted 2 yrs. Whole families died during that pandemic and there was no vaccine. By the end of the Spanish flu you either died or developed immunity. Not sure we will be so lucky here with some people getting vaccinated and the variants. But one can hope this is the second wave and we are toward the end. I have accepted that a majority of my extended family in Douglas County will never get vaccinated no matter how much I try to inform them. I will lose family members. It's a hard thing to fully accept since this death is preventable and needless just because they are too stubborn.
