WOW! I live in Puyallup and My sister lives in north Federal Way. I was on my way to my sister's house just before 2:00pm. If any of you are know the area. I was at S 288th st and Military road heading north. The light turned green, I was about 15 cars from the intersection. I traveled through the intersection and on my right is a apartment complex. The street that intersects with military after the apartments is S. 286th. I have to be honest. I did not hear a shot. But when I got to S.286th and looked right. In the front yard of a duplex across the street from the apartments. There were two Federal Way police cars in the street and a man laying on the ground in front of the Duplex. Many people in the front yard also. As I was going by. I saw 4 different LEO agencies responding. I saw the 2 Federal Way cars. I saw a King County Sheriff car, Then I saw two Auburn cars. Then by the time I got to Star Lake road, here comes 2 Kent cars. A couple of them I saw were at other intersection and it looked like they were setting up a parameter. When I got home and checked the news. The man had died. The bad guys got away in a silver Chevy Malibu. You never know when chit is going to happen. This was in broad day light. You just never know! Just like when Maldenado walked into the Tacoma Mall with an AK-47. I was in the Sears store when all of that came down. You HAVE to be on your guard all the time now days.

That's crazy!

Glad you were not involved.

@rdb241 don't take this the wrong way ... but stay far away from me! 2 shootings near you - is 2 to many!

Ok, I was thinking it but didn't say it:p.

I've never been in, near or anywhere close to a shooting and I've worked nights in some shady areas.

I guess that's why we pre plan an prepare for the worst - I won't be just another number in someone's statistics.

It can happen anywhere. I was camping at camp Dakota when someone emptied a glock on a drive by. I think there may have been some boy scouts mooning traffic driving by.

It is no different today than it was 20 years ago - except crime is actually going down.

Where I used to live in Everett, there were two drive by shootings, one while I was at home in the evening.

Just the same, I am glad I live in the boonies now.

I was driving home from working in Yelm,to Lakewood.
Lots of ways to go. I was on? Anyway it's east of the freeway about a half mile, ends up where bass pro shops is now(formerly lowes)
So I'm gunna turn west on 96th to go to south Tacoma way. I'm sitting at the light and look to my left
Well! There's a bunch of pierce co. sheriffs with guns drawn.
Ya know,I can turn at 72nd and get home that way
Of course at the house I had down that way a 17yo shot a 16 yo in the back ,in the school grounds right next to my house, for not fighting over a girl:s0054:

Glad you are still with us. Some one was murdered if front of my sister's condo garage about 15 years ago. Two guys got into a fight at a 7/11 about a block away. The one guy chased the other and they ended up at her place. It was during the day and many people heard it. Last information we got, the guy is still dead. What ever it was over I'm sure wasn't that important.

Always remember. Some people just don't give a ****. Pick your battles

dang as if traffic isnt bad enough up that way i bet it was a mess after that!

Traffic yesterday was that worse X 5. They had a tanker truck over turn in Fife and shut down I-5 totally in both directions. Everybody was using EVERY possible road to avoid I-5. Traffic everywhwere in the south end was stupid.

Anytime you are in Federal Way, you are probably going to be a block away from a shooting or shootings.

Now days I agree with you 100%. I grew up in Federal Way in the mid to late 70's. As a matter of fact , I went to Thomas Jefferson High School that is just a mile east on S. 288th st and Military. I had heard on the radio awhile back that Federal Way has the single largest Hispanic population of any other city in the state. There are more Hispanics in Federal Way than Yakima or Wennatchee.

At least in Federal Way that's not true. When I grew up there, I spent a lot of time on the street. Going to "Kegger's" and there was not nearly the amount of violence there is today. I really would not like being a teenager these days growing up in Federal Way.

Well, 20 years ago I was in my 40s so I have to go back twice as far and then a little bit more to talk about violence when I was a teen, so yeah, way back when there were dinosaurs roaming the earth, not as much violence. :D

Although, when I was 17, I did have a gun pointed at me and I tried to run the guy over with my car.

Well whatever you do, don't even drive through Browning Montana (or so the standard warning went/goes) or you'll get shot at. And for heaven's sake, don't stop and drink at a bar there.. but it seemed everyone did anyway.
Quite the deserved reputation.

The. 'Waze' app has saved me many times during issues like that - it even gets data from cars using the side streets and routes you around those people too;).

Portland doesn't often even come close but I have had a few 1:45 estimated drives home turn into :35 min drives just by using the app and following the crazy route it suggests.

Works very well around major cities - the denser the population the more accurate it is.

I was working on the big storm drain project going thru the (whatever they call it now)Commons? in 2005? 4?
Anyway we got out in 320th to cross by RedRobin and that night club/casino didn't look like any place I would frequent. Especially as much as the cops did lol

Coming from a dense population, in more ways than one, it is amazing at what you can get used to. In a dense population you can see tons of videos or reports of women being assaulted assault no one steps in. Whether it's the fear of being sued or of getting your bubblegum kicked, I don't know. But it seems like the more people there are the safer muggers, purse snatches and the like are.

I'm not even talking about shooting people or taking out my gun. I'm just talking about watching women get beat on or attacked and no man steps forward. I doubt anyone on this site would allow it.
