Looks like we have another hero that the media will not make a big deal about. A gun-toting psychiatrist, Dr. Lee Silverman returned fire after a mentally ill patient stormed into his office, shot and killed a female case worker and then shot Dr. Silverman, grazing his head. The doctor then pulled his pistol and critically shot the attacker, Richard Platts.
This is an act of bravery that probably have resulted in saving the lives of many people in this hospital.
However, the policy of the hospital forbids anybody except law enforcement from carrying weapons on the property, so Dr. Silverman's reward for his bravery and surviving this deadly attack will most likely be him losing his job or being suspended.
Only way to stop a bad guy with gun is a good guy with gun.. Oh yeah, When seconds count the police are only minutes away. These theories work for me.. However, the people at the mental hospital I think should undergo a psychiatric evaluation for their lack of understanding of a simple concept.

The hospital has a policy barring anyone except on-duty law enforcement officers from carrying weapons anywhere on its campus, a spokeswoman for the Mercy Health System said.
But Yeadon Police Chief Donald Molineux said that "without a doubt, I believe the doctor saved lives."
"Without that firearm, this guy (the patient) could have went out in the hallway and just walked down the offices until he ran out of ammunition," the chief said.
