Looks like we have another hero that the media will not make a big deal about. A gun-toting psychiatrist, Dr. Lee Silverman returned fire after a mentally ill patient stormed into his office, shot and killed a female case worker and then shot Dr. Silverman, grazing his head. The doctor then pulled his pistol and critically shot the attacker, Richard Platts.

This is an act of bravery that probably have resulted in saving the lives of many people in this hospital.

However, the policy of the hospital forbids anybody except law enforcement from carrying weapons on the property, so Dr. Silverman's reward for his bravery and surviving this deadly attack will most likely be him losing his job or being suspended.

Only way to stop a bad guy with gun is a good guy with gun.. Oh yeah, When seconds count the police are only minutes away. These theories work for me.. However, the people at the mental hospital I think should undergo a psychiatric evaluation for their lack of understanding of a simple concept.

From the article:
The hospital has a policy barring anyone except on-duty law enforcement officers from carrying weapons anywhere on its campus, a spokeswoman for the Mercy Health System said.

But Yeadon Police Chief Donald Molineux said that "without a doubt, I believe the doctor saved lives."

"Without that firearm, this guy (the patient) could have went out in the hallway and just walked down the offices until he ran out of ammunition," the chief said.

No I'm sure the media will avoid it. At least the media that caters to the socialist masses. You'll never see anything that will contradict their beliefs or made up statistics. If they did that they wouldn't be able to live in their black and white world perspective. They're right everyone else is wrong... No matter what stories or events happen in a day to day basis in reality. Ignorance is bliss. How I really hate Em'... Kudos to Dr. Silverman for his reaction in the moment, saving his own and his co-workers lives. Rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6

Yea this is the tenth thread on this in 30 hrs.. nothing wrong with that.
Of course he had a handgun..

I've said it 100s of times - the liberal position is they would rather you be a victim than to legally defend yourself or others. This is exactly why situations like this are never reported by the left media.

Put yourself in the doctors shoes. All day long, you have borderline psychos confessing some sort of deranged phantasy or other mental issues, wouldn't you be armed just in case.
I would, no matter what the rules say.

Well you my friend are not cursed with ignorance like so many. Of course a sane person would protect themselves and staff even if the rules say otherwise. I followed those same rules at a job and never would again after some injuries I could have stopped from happening. Never again. The guy could lose his job but he is alive and so is the staff. I guarantee the staff is grateful he broke the rules.
