STANTON, Calif. (AP) — A 72-year-old Southern California grandmother who shot at — and narrowly missed — a man trying to break into her home said Tuesday she was shocked at the attention her action was getting but does not regret defending herself and her husband, an 85-year-old World War II veteran who uses a wheelchair.

More here: Grandma, 72, shoots at intruder, misses in Calif.

"A gun is like a parachute. If you need one and don't have it, you'll probably never need one again!"

Lets pay for a good lesson for gma in sight alignment :)

next time she'll save the courts time and money.

What is with these idiot criminals?

1. Someone is home.

2. Dog

Aren't there poorly lit, unoccupied, easy-target homes everywhere? What happened to criminals casing a house to figure out when you are not home, etc?

Now these meth heads really don't give a damn. They select a house to break into and just go for it whether the lights are on, TV on, you are clearly home. I've seen stories where the homeowner is yelling "I have a gun" and the perp still is trying to get it via a door or window.

I mean come on! Do these drugs just really turn you into a zombie where you can't even figure out risk/reward at all?

Really bad move nowadays as millions of smarter citizens have decided to take steps toward their own security in the last couple years (skyrocketing gun sales).

I think smarter criminals are the ones who aren't getting shot or caught. Probably not strung out on meth either. This guy sounds pretty stupid.

The only comment in the article that angered me is "the gun was properly registered"
That is something no good citizen should ever have to do.
That was like the screech of fingernails across a chalkboard.
