I guess it was two of those False Positives that almost never happen
My co-worker who just went to the ER after J&J, had actually applied for a medical exemption from his PC Dr., and was told flat out..."no", they wouldn't make an exemption for him. The reason he asked for an exemption? When he was in the military he was that rare dude who actually had adverse reactions to vaccines/inoculations. Over the years, he'd have an occasional reaction to various drugs/injections.
He is nearly at retirement stage and couldn't quit/be fired from the job prior to his planned retirement strategy without serious affect to his original plan. Also, our employer will only return his investment into our retirement plan if he is fired/separated, which is a serious issue this late in the game for him, as participating in our retirement plan (457) may be better than going to a 401k.
So, anyways.... I will be following up with him to see what happened at the ER and if he is going to have any choice words with his PC Dr.
too bad it was NOT fatal in their case!!!100% of the hosts on "The View" are fully vaccinated.
50% of them caught the coof!
How are those that are "vaccine hesitant" going to process these types of outcomes? Become more hesitant.
Are you union? The employer cannot just unilaterally change the contract. Point out to HR that there is no actual mandate (Except for Federal workers).I received my first notification of impending "separation" from my HR dept at work. I have not provided any proof of vax and I am beyond the minimum vax dates.
I was reading 2 members on here bickering over people getting vaxxed and why should one person worry if another is vaxxed. The other member claimed that they are at risk from un-vaxxed.
It brought up an irony for me. My employer, a City, made my job more dangerous by "de-funding" the police and allowing violent, metally ill homeless at my work place (I work on traffic signals, so my workplace is literally the streets where homeless criminals roam free). I must be extremely wary of human feces and used needles, as homeless criminals use our infrastructure as toilets or dumpsters for their needles (they stuff needles into the gaps on our cabinets or in open holes in poles, and they use our cabinets as support when pooping).
So, if I call the police, they don't show up anymore. When I go to work, I must work around used, dirty needles and feces.
My employer doesn't see this as any issue at all. We complain all the time.
However, my employer all of the sudden cares about Wu Flu? Oh, excuse me for not being PC, I meant "COVID-19" didn't mean to be racist...I'm sorry.
In my daily life, COVID-19 is the least of my worries. I have way bigger threats to my safety and health every day, I worry more about my doctor telling me I have cancer again, or my family's health, car accident, needle jab, etc. COVID-19 is actually never a health concern for me.
I envy those that only have C-19 as an existential threat to their daily health concerns.

OSHA has not written any new rules. There is just Biden's press release.
Your employer did not give you 80 hours of COVID sick leave, that was gifted to them by the first Congressional COVID bill. When our family got COVID, my wife was able to access that 80 hours, but had to provide a positive test first. Yeah, AFSCME is all about voting straight D, or more like ghey and D. Public employees do not have to pay union dues in Oregon if they don't want. Try to organize a mass exit of paying members from the union if they don't represent you. Either that or call in sick for the next week.Yes, we are union. And our union is in LOVE with the "D's". We are part of a larger group of thousands of employees who are 90% conservative, but our union is 100% socialist.
They say we are under a "TA" tentative agreement, however the employer went right ahead and mandated everything with an Oct 18 deadline, whilst our TA doesn't take hold until later this year, if not 2022.
For example, the TA offered us 80 hours of COVID sick leave, and line 3 of the definition of COVID sick leave was to be as time "for adverse vaccine reaction". We were required to have J&J by Oct 4 to be "fully vaxd" by Oct 18, however that COVID time is not even available to us yet.
Anyways, since I didn't upload my vax record yet, I was sent a reminder that I am at risk of separation.
Trying to think, how can I become un-employed and enjoy those sweet un-employemt bennys? Seems, as a working class white hetero I am not "enititled" to unemployment......FRICK'N eyh! (Mormon cursing)
I can "Janus" our union if I want to, but by the time that paperwork is done, I will be "separated" anyways. My co-workers, who all talked a big game when the mandates came about, all but 3 of us, got their vax. Slaves to the dollar. They won't Janus the union, they think they are doing good. Although, the private sector for our skills set pays more, they can be lazier.Your employer did not give you 80 hours of COVID sick leave, that was gifted to them by the first Congressional COVID bill. I used to make VERY good money/benefits in the private sector. I guess the real reason I stick with union work is that when I want to be lazy, there's no repercussions or expectations. Whereas, in private sector, people notice when you are slacking off.
I have job prospects in both private sector and municipal when I get "separated" by my current employer. I need to decide figure out which way to go.
We had 141 ferry trip cancellations this weekend.I cant wait for the crippling effect these mandates and the ensuing employment dismissals cause.
I'm already seeing employers dangling some pretty hefty sign in bonuses with C19 requirements.
It is the proverbial shot in the foot situation and doing it a second time for giggles.
I am happy that you other prospects on the horizon.

WSF tries to deny it is related to COVID vax mandates, but guess what? The vax mandates are coming home to roost and the ferries aren't sailing. Coinkidinks? I think not!
'Never have I seen anything like this': Staffing shortages cancel over 140 ferry sailings on Friday
Dozens of Washington state ferry sailings have been canceled on Friday, due to staffing shortages across numerous routes.mynorthwest.com
They are losing people who could've stayed on another decade, that decided to "F"-it and bail...wonder what the motivation is???
Well, start slacking off now. Call in sick all this week. You can't take that sick time with you. Don't quit, let them fire you. There will be class action lawsuits.I can "Janus" our union if I want to, but by the time that paperwork is done, I will be "separated" anyways. I'm trying to get that COVID leave for December, so I can have a "COVID Christmas" if you catch my drift.Well, start slacking off now. Call in sick all this week. You can't take that sick time with you. Don't quit, let them fire you. There will be class action lawsuits.
