Phillyfan, that's James. I credit him with directing me to my first 1911 three years ago. He reminded me of Gunnery Sargent Ermey.....I was still a green firearms enthusiast, and he took so much time with me!

For me, I don't want any extra wear on that $500.00-$1000.00 gun. So I've chosen to drop my slides sling-shot style, do it with the release enough times it going to wear somewhat. And, of course, if a person was in a hurried situation no hesitation dropping the slide with the release.

BTW, I believe in respecting my elders too, also people in general, unless/until they show reason not too. Not the other way around, as so many do these days.

Why do you think they invented gravity.? so you can break open your Holland & Holland side by side by just thumbing the lever, letting gravity do the rest. true story
