IF North Korea finally gets its act together and develops a reliable missile capable of shooting a warhead weight heavy enough to contain a big EMP bomb high enough above the atmosphere to devastate the Western half of the USA; then all they need to do is build the launch system, missile stack and the aforementioned EMP bomb into some mundane container/cargo ship and slip it right next to our Western Coast. The missile only needs to get several hundred miles high, reach not that important.

Launch, lob, detonate. We would only have a few minutes to track, lock onto and destroy such a missile. Probably not enough time. Or they could do the East Coast just about as easily? Gulf Coast? I would NOT want to be President Trump right now. So many different ways North Korea could do it to us. How would we even establish blame after the fact? Half the nation knocked back via EMP a couple hundred years. The relief and rebuilding alone would utterly bankrupt and collapse our Country. Yikes!

While the N Korean's third rate program probably lacks the technology to go ballistic, survive re-entry into the atmosphere and actually hit a target, "close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades" becomes moot with a nuke EMP in shallow space over Japan, Guam, US Territories, Hawaii or anywhere near the North American continent. We'd be back in the stone age instantly, unable to view CNN or MSLSD where we learn how hip and trendy it is to whine and demonstrate over politically manufactured trivia while totally abandoning any sense of reality, truth, patriotism or national security.

North Korea Appears to Have Conducted Sixth Nuclear Test

SEOUL—North Korea appeared to have conducted a sixth nuclear test Sunday, triggering a tremor 10 times as powerful as that from its test a year ago and coming hours after it showed off what it called a hydrogen bomb capable of being mounted on a long-range missile.

The U.S. Geological Survey said it had recorded a magnitude-6.3 earthquake that it described as a "possible explosion" in northeastern North Korea—near the site of Pyongyang's past nuclear tests—at a depth of zero kilometers at noon Pyongyang time. The agency initially assessed it to be a magnitude-5.1 temblor.

Because earthquakes are measured using a logarithmic scale, a magnitude-6.3 quake would be 10 times as powerful as the one triggered by the North's September 2016 nuclear test, which triggered a magnitude-5.3 earthquake, according to the USGS.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said that it had detected a revised magnitude-5.7 earthquake in the same area of North Korea, in what it described as likely being a "man-made" earthquake.

A spokesman for South Korea's military said that it had strengthened its military posture in response to the likely nuclear test, adding that the Joint Chiefs of Staff had preliminarily assessed the incident to be a nuclear test.
