Detectives with the Des Moines Police Department are searching for two men involved in a home invasion and shooting. The incident happened around 11 p.m. Monday in the 1300 block of South 251 Street.

Police say a man and a woman were at their home when two armed men forced their way into the residence and demanded money. The male occupant got into a scuffle with one of the armed suspects and was shot in the stomach and pistol whipped. The resident was transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The female occupant was uninjured.

Police say the two suspects took off after the shooting but it is unclear what was taken during the incident. Police have released suspect description for one of the men as a white male in his late 20's with a close cut or shaved haircut and scruffy, unshaven face.

Anyone with information in regards to this case is asked to contact the Des Moines Police Department at (206) 878-3301.
