Chicago's increasing murder rate

National Geographic created a series called Drugs, Inc. The episode "Windy City High" focused on Chicago. I saw the episode approximately 2-3 years ago. A couple of observations in that episode always stuck in my mind:

• They estimated 270,000 addicts in Chicago at that time.
• Control of the street corners for drug trafficking is an ongoing war. As soon as someone is shot or gone then someone else is willing to move in and "open for business".

Yeah, the number shocked me. They actually interviewed a younger couple, and then later in the show said she died of an overdose after being interviewed by them.

Actually, we need an island we can send them to, like Australia. Or perhaps send them in a third-world country, where there is no art, culture, or civilization, only violence. They may find purpose there.

Man there are other jobs in safer places
Just walk away with your life and start over. Then after enough people do it,the businesses will follow.
If it was manufacturing I'd be trying to get the company to move to a better area.
Maybe there needs to be a wall and pump that big lake into that city

I believe that better education at an early age is one way to help out. I was shocked that at a young age my kids hadn't yet heard of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson in school (Portland) when they were sharing with me what they had learned about Martin Luther King.

Get your kids out of a government school, if you want them to learn something useful. It's a bit silly to rag on government schools for doing exactly what they were intended to do.

I agree with Skwim, I still have trouble swallowing the bitter pill, and that is sending in the Nat, Guard and rounding up the bangers, seizing the guns and the drugs! Then handing control over to the local LEO and forcing compliance! I hate this idea, but it's probably the only way to stem the slaughter, other wise, Order more yellow body bags!!! Seal off the getto and take the trash out, put them into payed labor around the area and make them earn it to live there and turn their lives around! Yes, it suspends rights, but I think we are well and good past the feelings of right and fair in this, and in order to stop it, drastic actions need to take place, and we have seen the last 8 ( correction, 90 years !!!!!) years of our failure of a POTUS do NOTHING here, so it's time to take drastic actions! One innocent saved is worth all the bangers dead, and that should be the premise of this!

Since this is in the prep and survival section,what can you do to make sure you don't end up in a getto like this?
First thing is keep your money's in order. When you think the market is strong but look at your new neighbors and wonder what's going to become of the 'hood? Will it be a 'hood in 2 years?
If you pull yourself down with lots of goodies...on credit... you won't ,might not be able to get out before your house looses thousands of dollars in value.
So keep a good watch at your neighbors. Are they the kind you would want? Will they bring your neighborhood up in value? Or down?
In the P&S mind, you want to be able to GTFO before you the gangs move thru

I hear the cops there have pretty muched stopped proactive policing. If someone doesn't commit a crime in front of them, they aren't going to go looking for people that might be up to no gool

Listen Chicago is the Democrats Utopia. They've been in control for 92 years, have enacted all their socialist and liberal agendas, including infringing the second amendment rights of law abiding citizens...

If it wasn't for the children & adult bystanders getting killed in the drive-bys, it would be a win for society. Kind of like when Iraq and Iran were fighting a war.
