Interestingly enough, once the population realized what can be done with these hornets and their nests (grubs), they were turned into a delicacy. Watched a documentary about the harvesting and collection of these hornets as a food source in non-native habitats.

No thank you though. I don't want to be carried away.

My hornets will all be gasoline flavored with just a hint of charcoal

WSDA and Washington State Department of Health (DOH) officials ask people in the area to be on the lookout for and take precautions to avoid contact with these large bugs.

Adults can be nearly two inches long, have a distinctly light-orange head with prominent black eyes, a black thorax and a black/yellow striped abdomen.

The invasive hornets are typically almost an inch and a half long and are distinguished by their large yellow heads.

Asian giant hornets nest in the ground. Though they are typically not interested in humans, pets or large animals, they can inflict a nasty sting if threatened or their nest is disturbed.

Asian giant hornets are typically dormant over the winter, and are most often seen from July through October.

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't know these beasties were here. They need to start producing those salt guns that kill flies but with 10x the power. Then put a bounty on these things. That would give kids tons of fun and knock em out!

Remember, if you burn them out, or Wasp Spray them, do it at night when they're all home. If you do it in the day time, most of them are out hunting and will keep showing up for days looking for their nest.

I'm thinking the Canadians (sorry neighbors to the north) let them in. So now we need a giant small mesh net across the entire North border of the United States. Does Trump know about this threat? Can we appropriate funds to stop this?

Once an invasive species is here, they are pretty much impossible to eradicate.

If you want to eliminate these kinda things from happening, you have to mandate steps be taken to protect against introduction prior to importing goods. Industry doesn't like to hear sweeping rules like that, so often they kick the can down the road via political pull.

If you really want to eliminate the possibility of these kinda things, you have to eliminate international trade.

We had some serious Wasps here in Salem last summer, same colors as the O.P, twice the normal wasp size!
We also have those Asian "Racing Worms" every one was going on about a few years ago, super fast, super aggressive , damn near impossable to catch!
I figure they would make most excellent fishing worms!

Hype or no hype, getting hit by one of these bastiges is said to be like pouring hot metal on your skin. Stingers penetrate a normal beekeeper suit.

Yikes.................

Don't say these are from China LOL

"If one of them buzzes around you, don't panic. Don't flap or scream or freak out," he advised. Just calmly walk away."

Yeah, I'm going to do all those things if one of these bugs comes after me. Bees don't bother me, but Hornets and wasps are a different matter.

So what you are telling me is that there is no way I can get rid of my brother in law?
