Ummmm

A tourniquet is only applied as a LAST RESORT. Once applied assume you will lose everything from the tourniquet down. Well at least one that's properly applied. Only apply when death is imminent from blood loss.

That is old school thinking and not at all accurate. TQ's should be applied immediately to help prevent bleed-out. With rapid medical attention limbs need not be lost from a TQ but more likely from damage of the wound itself, but waiting to "see how bad the bleeding is" before applying a TQ will almost surely result in massive blood loss and death assuming a solid hit.

Was that where the two bank robbers wore armor and took barbiturates? Police had to go to go the a gun shop do get more firepower since police were totally out gunned.

North Hollywood shootout - Wikipedia

That's the one. Have you ever seen any of the full length shows on this shootout? It's pretty impressive!!!! Except for the lack of PD firepower that is. Once the got the ARs, that last guy was DONE!!!

I watched a vid where the BG had a thigh wound and bled out while the LEOs where waiting for paramedics. Took about 2 minutes.

Actually, I think that female officers put both themselves and male officers at serious risk. The simple fact is that they do not have the necessary upper body strength to properly fight with a male suspect,

Not at all being sexist. It is a biological fact.

I don't believe that women should serve in combat units in the military, either. They do not have the necessary physical strength to be competitive in combat either.

Uh oh... You're in big trouble now!!!

Hell, that's a long time. The average adult has 10-12 pints (1.25-1.5 gal) of blood in their body, a severed femoral artery is basically a 3/4" hose, just think how long it takes to dump a gallon and half through a 3/4" hose, not long at all and considering the heart is pumping like crazy from adrenaline from that little gun battle. That is why you don't dick around thinking about putting on a TQ you just do it and do it now.

There's nicked, there's chunked or whatever it's called, and then there's severed. Who knows what his injury amounted to ... they didn't say. But he did lose his life.

The son of a good friend years back died from sneezing. He had an abnormal blood vessel formation in the back of his throat caused by a hereditary condition. Bleed out instantly. I guess a tourniquet wouldn't have done much good around his neck and considering how fast it happened. Blood everywhere!!!

...and once again, thank you to a bunch of hyped up police who did not give a crap as to where all of their missed rounds ended up...just shoot in the general direction and hope it sticks. Like on TV.

Back in the late 80's in another state there was an incident where a prison inmate needed medical attention from a specialist. An armed guard escorted the man to the doctor's office, which was in a complex of medical and dental offices. Well, the guy used the medical appointment as an opportunity to escape, and broke free, and ran.

As the man ran away through the parking lot, his guard emptied six shots from his 357 magnum revolver at the fleeing convict. Problem was that all of his shots missed. But four of them went through the walls of a nearby dental office, into the reception area, where people were waiting. A couple even penetrate interior walls too, going into the exam rooms.

Although fortunately no one was hurt, the dentist who owned the business was hopping mad over the incident.

Did anyone else have a problem with the police using the hood of the car for cover? Usually a no-no due the very real possibility of ricochets off of the hood. Most law enforcement instructors teach not to. Most of your upper body is exposed to bullets - ricochet or not.

New video just released of the Baltimore bus shooting a few weeks back. It's pretty intense.

Items to note:
  • For the love of god why doesn't anyone have a rifle!?
  • One officer does grab and deploy a shotgun but runs it out of ammo pretty quick and apparently didn't think to grab more as he was gearing up.
  • I would gotta think...or at least hope...they do a big "lessons learned" after this incident. Every cop should have a patrol rifle and a bailout bag ready to go
  • Female officer took a round in the leg. Kudos that someone was prepared and had a tourniquet
  • Cops did a good job of standing strong overall but they gotta work on their preparedness

Baltimore Bus Shootout, New Footage Shows Suspect's Double-Barreled Barrage at Cops

That guy broke the law. He was standing where it clearly said no standing allowed.
