First they came for the Socialists firearms, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist believed that having no firearms was a reasonable restriction of my freedom.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists other weapons (sharp objects, swords, knives, bows and arrows) and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist believed that the Govt would be respectful of my other rights and protect me.
Then they came for the Jews food, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew believed that the Govt would adequately re-distribute the food. Each according to his need.
Then they came for me—
and there was no one left to speak for me. not having the means to resist tyranny, I realized that I was just a subject.
I'm wondering what they gained by fighting WW2. They expended blood and treasure to avoid being taken over by a totalitarian govt that would have turned out not too different from what they ended up with. (If you weren't of Jewish persuasion, that is.) After all The Fuehrer told them he would be nice if they just gave up. Churchill is spinning in his grave.
