Count me out. Not interested in any fringe groups with fringe ideas that would make Second Amendment supporters look like trailer-trash goof-balls.

But that's just me, because I care about 2A issues over the long term and am not aligned with the lunatic fringe of American politics.

If you want to engage in this kind of nonsense, I support your right to do so.

AND I SUPPORT YOUR RIGHT TO BE A NAME CALLING UNINFORMED IDIOT

Housewives' Tupperware parties have the same effect. Maybe these get togethers should be called "Housewife tea parties." You could sell tupperware, feminine hygiene products, and pictures of David Hasselhoff.

At the very least you can do is to try and be honest with yourself and others.
Based on what you have written herein and elsewhere, you are not by any stretch of the imagination, a "mainstream conservative" let alone any sort of conservative at all.
What I do glean from your writing is a lemming approach, parochial at best, paradigm of politics in general. An amalgamation of random ideologies that you've allow to be placed in your head without the benefit of critical, and objective thought.

Think about what you started in here....

All that the OP was wanting to do was to announce the Tea Party get together, but then you came in here and crapped all over it.

If you had any level of decorum and maturity, you would have started your own thread challenging the validity, the legitimacy, and the intelligence level of Tea Party Members, or whatever it is you've been attempting to do herein.
But no... You preferred to trash the OP's simple message of announcement.
Why the Mod's did not stop you, and prune your thread hi jack I do not know.
But now that simple announcement has been diluted by you, and admittedly by the rest of us who refuse to let your delusions go unanswered.

VERY, VERY, VERY WELL STATED!

THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT. NOT ONLY FOR THE TEA PARTY, I CAN SEE FROM THE POSTS AMERICA STILL HAS PATRIOTS THAT BELIEVE IN HER. YOU ARE HER STRENGTH. MY HATS OFF TO YOU!

I must disagree with the statement about no Fat Cat support. Americans for Prosperity
plays a key role in the Tea Party, nationally and in Oregon. The billionaire Koch brothers, much in the news lately, are co-founders of American for Prosperity, and contributed over $40 million to the cause. See
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/22/us/22koch.html?_r=2&pagewanted=1&ref=politics

AFP helps the Tea Party with activist training, volunteer mobilization, and in identifying potential Tea Party candidates. They are also sponsoring strategic local ballot measures like the repeal of the Sellwood Bridge vehicle tax. They openly state that these initiatives help to mobilize new activists to bring into the movement. So the Tea Party very much benefits from support of the Koch energy and oil conglomerate.
Tea Party members may have thought the TARP was no good, but the newly elected Republican majority in Congress, which the Tea Party claims responsibility for electing, just voted to CUT FUNDING for the Securities and Exchange Commission - as if Wall Street needed even less oversight than what they get now.

BTW, I attended the Saturday gathering. I was impressed by the level of organization and seriousness of the people there. I just disagreed with about 80% of what I heard, politically.

Point taken, Afp did provide some level of insurance for the tea event Saturday. so I guess in a round about way, some fat cats who donated to the AFP helped the Tea party. I don't have an issue with that. As long as there is no attempted intervention in Tea party policy.
I guess its better than taking contributions from George Soros, the wealthiest and most evil man alive. I have no problems with AFP tossing the Tea party a bone from time to time since we are on the same page in history and fighting for the same goals of of limited government, fiscal responsibility and the free market system. And in full disclosure, I am also a member of the AFP and Freedom works.

For being such a wholesome, salt of the earth group their members are pretty good at yelling in CAPITAL letters over the internet while demeaning anyone who disagrees with them as "uninformed idiots" and that they should "learn something before opening their mouths." I have a hard time understanding folks who wrap themselves in the Flag/Constitution and then shout from the rooftops espousing their own patriotism while at the same time boldly demonizing anyone who disagrees with them as somehow anti-American.

my bad, my work requires i type in all caps, so it often carries over to other places.
sorry it wasn't the evil yelling you thought.. . We were not the first to cast the stone of name calling. Please, disagree all you like, I support that, but disparaging people you know nothing of is just wrong. You were the one who called out the people with your remarks.

An ugly choice, with only uglier alternatives. Sufficient to avoid disaster, but not change behavior.

TARP worked, deal with it

i hate newpaper editorials,
The numbers tell a mostly ignored story. TARP spending, once expected to lose $341 billion, will cost taxpayers $25 billion. Loans are being repaid, and other stimulus investments in General Motors and Chrysler, have turned tidy profits. and before GM has paid it back, it has given its workers billions in bonuses.. http://money.cnn.com/2011/02/11/news/companies/gm_bonus/index.htm of up to 50%

so now the taxpayers are giving bonuses to gm employees while still paying interest on the money we borrowed to bail out gm (who has not paid us back) chryser was split up and the shareholders in both companies were screwed when the unions got their stock shares.

. "we have to destroy the free market to save it" only saved the big banks and insurance companies, thats all. If AIG failed, it would not have been the end of society as we know it. If Lehman had failed, the USA would not have failed. Tarp saved the big boys and everyone else was left to fail. The government decides who wins and looses. That sounds a lot like socialism to me, and I voted for Bush. The results may have been fine for the 4 remaining large banks, but who wins next time, who loses? Then we have the Dodd-Frank financial reform act that made it legal, so at any point in time, with no guidelines in
place, they can take a business away from its owners, shareholders for any "undisclosed" reason for national security.

The die is cast, GWB opened the door, my president, How do you think that makes me feel? I tried to defend what GWB did for months, maybe even a year before I realized it was not the right thing to do. Most of the country has forgotten the role of government and it was never intended to be determining which businesses succeed and which ones fail. That is a perversion of the constitution and a bold invitation to more corruption.

here is another "editorial" indicating tarp is a failure quoting the Inspector General

Now, now. No one called you any names. Be civil. I think it was you who said, "disparaging people you know nothing of is just wrong."

You don't want to be like one of those angry white old spittle-sputtering neaderthals raging against world-wide communism, fluoridated water, interracial marriage, the New Deal, the Trilateral Commission, world Jewry and the gold standard. Gives us all a bad name, dontcha know..... And I know that's not you.

Now, now. No one called you any names.
I beg to differ. To wit:
the Tea Party are desperate publicity seekers

They are insecure people, afraid, needful. They insist on talking only with people who agree with them. Cowards,

Not interested in any fringe groups with fringe ideas that would make Second Amendment supporters look like trailer-trash goof-balls.

If a bigot's gonna be a bigot, good for him to out himself.

Fringe Group, Fringe Ideas, Lunatic Fringe, Nonsense. Hmm. Yup. I think that assesses the Tea Party movement pretty well.
And then you have the audacity to come across with this? :

Be civil. I think it was you who said, "disparaging people you know nothing of is just wrong.

Mr Pot, meet Mr Kettle!

You apparently wouldn't know a fact if it jumped up and bit you on the butt.

That's okay for you though. American Idol is probably on all week, and I hear "So you think you can dance" is coming back.
Now if they'd just combine the two you could watch,...
So you think you can sing!!
