If you're after an entry level hunting rifle, i have a brand new in box, Remington 783 in 30.06 for sale in the classifieds.

It only needs a scope, comes with rings, nothing fancy but Field & Stream rated it as very accurate, especially for the price.

You can find brand new Ruger American Rifles for around $350. Much better rifle.

Have they made any improvements on their triggers? A friend of mine has an M77 not sure the year but he hates the trigger. I tried it and I did not like it either.

I have no baseline to compare with, it being my first center fire rifle I've owned (...only been shooting as an adult around 6 months).

Seems pretty decent to me though, given its value. Better than what you'd expect, especially at the price point.

The stock, not so much, but you can bed it seemingly "easily" enough to maintain free float.
