Advice on a chrony

I got a new chrony and they say you should shoot 4 inches above and not over 6 inches. Would you get different readings if you shoot at 6 inch above and then 4 inches and what about maybe 10 or 12 inches

You may just not get a reading if you're too far above the sensors.

That is what I was wanting to know. The reason I ask when I was shooting my 44 handgun on the first set of 6 I had a spread of 7 FPS and the second two it was 25 and 38. So this could have been different amount of powder drop or maybe different bullet weight

The more you shoot, the more you'll likely find that the first batch was the "abnormal" one.
I've had a few loads, both factory and handloads that have a very low fps spread, but most vary a bit.

As long as you don't shoot the chrono, you're not doing much wrong!
