33 people were killed on Portland roads in 2018, compared to the 45 deaths in 2017, and 44 deaths in 2016. Portland's Vision Zero result in 33 deaths in 2018, fewer than past 3 years
Meanwhile there were 32 homicides, 32 homicides in Portland in 2018 involved victims ranging in age from 18 to 89
The 32 killings mark an increase from 27 recorded in 2017 but weren't far out of line with the city's count in recent years: 20 in 2016, 34 in 2015, 26 in 2014 and 16 in 2013, which was the lowest number recorded in 42 years.
Four people were shot and killed by police. Excluding the police shootings, 20 of the remaining 28 homicides resulted from gunfire, one from strangulation, two from stab wounds, two from head trauma, one from torture, maiming and sexual abuse. The causes of two of the people killed have not been released.
So 33 vs 20 or 24 if you count the police.
