Glad you liked it! You may not realize it, but the gravel wall along the East side wasn't there before. USFS built it up to help stop any bullets from going East, towards residents and the town of Sisters. I love it! Nice improvement.Bjtcraig posted a new review for the resource Zimmerman Cinder Pit
Yeah notice on the way out was impressed with it compared to some other free range I've been to.Glad you liked it! You may not realize it, but the gravel wall along the East side wasn't there before. The other nice improvement is the place just outside the pit, on the road towards Hwy 20. A nice horseshoe shooting area with a high backstop and high sidewalls! WOW! It used to be just a 2-3 foot high lump of dirt at the end. Problem was, too many people were shooting into that tiny backstop and missing it, sending bullets out toward Hwy 20. They made an improvement, not only for public safety, but for a nice place for shooters.
That was a rare thing for a federal forest management agency to do! (they usually just close it down and that's supposed to solve the problem).

Google took me the same way no worries got to drive through a really nice neighborhoodSorry bout the backwoods directions! I hadn't been there before, but was scheduling a cleanup, and Google Maps showed me the way to get there from downtown Sisters. So that's how I got that roundabout route. I found out the right way just like you did. Quick and easy from Hwy 20.
