So, at the present, my wife and children are outside, and therefore not, as they say, "in my hair". There is a wildfire around us, but we are safe, even though there are a great many aircraft flying above us. So I am drinking and watching the very bizarre film El Topo. To say this one is surreal would be a very great understatement. I also had the recollection that a family member of mine had a part in the production of the film Altered States. As such, I throw out this question: what are some of your favorite surreal, bizarre, haunting, or otherwise strange films? Enjoy, amigos. :D

I enjoyed El Topo in 1972 and thought it was deep, but then I was in a greatly altered state.
Saw it again years later and decided the director was in a greatly altered state.

Brazil was another. Space Odessey 2001. Dead Man [Johnny Depp's weird western].

I have many. To name a few off the top of my head:
Apocalypse Now (see my avatar)
Pan's Labyrinth
Jacobs Ladder
Shoot `Em Up
Ugetsu
Sansho the Bailiff

Thanks for the topic, CountryGent.

"Catch 22"..."Blade Runner"..."American Beauty"..."Cannery Row"..."Apocalypse Now".
