You and me both...:D
While not a Hawken rifle I do own a F.E. Seiferth "Plains Rifle" circa 1840-50...in .50 caliber.
His shop was about 3 blocks from the Hawken Shop in St. Louis.
This rifle still gets shot every once and awhile....:D

That's pretty special Andy! That back lock makes for a nice, thin rifle I'll bet.
I've been keeping an eye out for an original. Don't see them for sale often. Probably couldn't afford one If I did!

Yeah a all complete original rifle would cost more than my house... :D
But...
I have run across two rifles that were built around a original barrel and lock....
When Gemmer closed the Hawken shop in 1915...there were Hawken rifle barrels that would sold for parts....

Yeah, an original hawken would cost a bit! I meant something contemporaneous.
I am collecting parts for a plains rifle build this winter, I'll settle for that!

I dunno...
Something by Lorcin?

Oh Man!! do I have an opportunity for you, just sitting on my desk!

Sauer M30 Luftwaffe survival Drilling - Ready for any adventure.
You can have one of these beauties for a mere $25K or so.

For maximum versatility the M30 featured two 12 gauge shotgun barrels on top and a 9.3x74mmR rifle barrel below. The left-hand barrel was left unchoked for shooting slugs and the right barrel was choked for shot-shells.
Note that the geniuses at the top figured the aircrews in North Africa needed a gun for Sub-Saharan animals.

I've wanted a Browning/Colt's M1918A2 B.A.R. since watching Little Joe on the TV series 'Combat' in the mid 1960's. That show had me convinced that the B.A.R. was the coolest thing ever. Of course, at the time I was unaware that you needed to be as big and strong as Little Joe to carry one. I also like the scene in the movie 'The Sand Pebbles' where Steve McQueen used a B.A.R. and kicked bubblegum - at least until he died.

This is a cool choice. As far as the TV series goes it was Pvt. Kirby (Jack Hogan) who started carrying the BAR in the first episode and then straight through for every season. Littlejohn (Dick Peabody) did not carry it.

There's transferable one available for a paltry $215k.
That's less than the FG42 that actually sold for $300k. If you can afford it. it ain't that much. :D

Perhaps a Holland & Holland Royal grade in any calibre.
I recall falling in love with an exquisite .375 H&H Double in the display case at RCBS. It looks like a top grade .410 with rifle sights. I can only imagine how it must feel to heft.
