Got out to the range this weekend and did some break in and load testing. The Deadshot barrel broke in really easy and you could really feel the difference in smoothness after only 10 rounds of shoot, clean, shoot, clean. I do like a barrel that breaks in easily!

I fired 3 rounds for group and then one through the chrony for speed. I loaded 12 different test loads with 2 different 85 grain bullets (speer and sierra) with 3 different powders (BL-C(2), H335, and H4895). The H4895 was the powder that the barrel and bullets preferred printing all 4 groups of 3 under 3/4" @ 100 yards. The other powders were pretty good at 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" @ 100 yards.

Sierra 85 Grain BTHP Gameking seated to 2.250" OAL using CCI BR-4 primers.
26.5 Grains BL-C(2) Velocity 2617 FPS 3 Shot group 1.298"
27.5 Grains BL-C(2) Velocity 2707 FPS 3 Shot group 1.195"
24.5 Grains H335 Velocity 2661 FPS 3 Shot group 1.405"
25.5 Grains H335 Velocity 2782 FPS 3 Shot group 1.302"
25.0 Grains H4895 Velocity 2740 FPS 3 Shot group .705"
26.0 Grains H4895 Velocity 2813 FPS 3 Shot group .589":D

Speer 85 Grain BTSP seated 2.250" OAL using CCI BR-4 primers.
26.5 Grains BL-C(2) Velocity 2567 FPS 3 Shot group 1.243"
27.5 Grains BL-C(2) Velocity 2657 FPS 3 Shot group 1.097"
24.5 Grains H335 Velocity 2675 FPS 3 Shot group 1.106"
25.5 Grains H335 Velocity 2747 FPS 3 Shot group .986"
25.0 Grains H4895 Velocity 2707 FPS 3 Shot group .743"
26.0 Grains H4895 Velocity 2822 FPS 3 Shot group .729"

Sorry I didn't post any pics, you can use your imagination on what the gun looks like....
It's a 20" barreled AR with a 15" free floating fore end and an A2 stock with a scope on it.... You have probably seen many like it.:)

Damn son I think you're having too much fun around there
Give us the twist rate on that thing, again?
I am impressed with the Sharps .25-45, especially for bumps in he night home defense out in the ding toolies.

Brutus out
Yeah,in the energy department, maybe. But even 22plinkster,who is an excellent shot ,didn't get sub MOA with the gun. And it's s
Sharps ammo! You'd think they would put out a gun and ammo that shot better than what the tests show, just sayin'

It is a 1:9 twist 20" lightweight contour rifle length gas system 6x45 barrel. It was pretty cold the morning I tested these loads, about 21 degrees and I couldn't seem to get a good rest. Also the magazines I brought were giving me fits, I forgot that the lower I was using does not like metal mags. I'll put some more test loads together and give it another go under more favorable conditions....

Well, but you said earlier that you had unloaded both of your AR lowers, and that you were now planning on building a bolt gun.

I'm thus not sure how you could use an AR barrel in a bolt action rifle. Or have you changed your plans yet once again??
Like I said I asked so others would have the info
You and me and greenbug aren't the only ones reading this......are we?

I have a shilen barrel on my Tikka in 6x45 and it shoots lights out. Not sure if Deadshot makes barrels for bolt guns or just ar's? At any rate I am happy with the Deadshot barrel I have so far. Just need to find time to do some more testing...
