I just read a post by a forum member that made me sad.
A forum member in Oregon had/has a Ruger 10-22 for sale. A forum member that resides in Washington wanted to buy this gun.
The seller's FFL in Oregon told him, he, the FFL could not (would not) transfer a semi-automatic rifle to a Washington resident.
Apparently, this is information the Ore FFL got from a Wa. FFL in a phone conversation.
We need to eradicate this type of misinformation.
If someone can show me a valid Oregon law , citing the Oregon statute that prohibits this transaction, I would happily give them $100 worth of ammo.
.9mm, .45acp, or .22rf , your choice.

Best,
Gary

I believe it's a new Washington law on semi-autos and I can't site the law but it has something to do with all semi-auto rifles have to held for 10 days and some additional paperwork and Oregon FFL's either don't have yet or will not be able to get. It's my understanding that nothing has changed on bolt guns and this only applies to Semi-auto's

When you say semi auto, they mean "assault rifle" in liberal talk?

In 1988, gun control strategist Josh Sugarmann wrote that the public and press had grown tired of the handgun ban issue. He urged a shift to "assault weapons," explaining that "assault weapon" bans could be easier to sell than handgun bans:

The weapons' menacing looks, coupled with the public's confusion over fully automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons—anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun—can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.

Sugarmann was exactly right. The term "assault weapon" has never had a stable meaning. Three decades later, much of the public is still confused. "Assault weapon" is just an epithet to stigmatize the largest possible number of guns and gun owners—the breadth of the definition of the moment depending on the politics of the moment.

How does this load of meadow muffins relate to any existing legislation in the state of Oregon?

We are talking semi-auto here. Forget all the other semantics.
Does not pertain here.

So I don't probably disagree with anything you said but we're not talking about a weapon of war (the real term liberals like to use) this however is a rim-fire Ruger 10-22 probably the most produced rifle in the world...I have 3 of them. There seems to be a lot of confusion about this new law in Washington state. I had a LEO I know tell me a Oregon FFL can do the transfer with new paperwork and waiting period but when he gave me a FFL# of someone in Washington state and my FFL called that person it came back as a Oregon FFL can't do this type of transfer...now I can take the Ruger 10-22 up to washington and do the transfer at a Washington FFL for a Washington resident. You guys can debate all night, I just got power back for the 1st time in 6 days and I'm going to bed!

The "problem" here is a resident of this state WA, wants to buy what this state, WA, long ago classified as an "Assault Weapon". You can still buy them here but the law makes it a few hoops to jump through. I have long said this shows why we have this mess. That someone who lives here is still shocked and surprised to find out about this law. Can the OR FFL go ahead? Probably but, they don't want to take a chance of having the AG of WA come after them with unlimited lawyers while the FFL would have to pay for his own. This is why we have this mess. Too many gun owners live in ignorance and could care less until they find something like this. Then they of course get mad. While back one of the supporting members here spent a LOT of money and time to get this stupid law put back in front of the voters. Could not get enough shooters here to even bother to sign the petition. Boy can those who could not be bothered get mad though when they go to buy a .22 rifle and find out it's an assault weapon so they have to jump through hoops and have a 10 day wait to buy it. The ones who could not be bothered can enjoy what they allowed to happen now. Hope they like the laws they did not care about when it effects them.

The question is what does your 10-22 look like and did you have a bx-25 magazine with it or the ten rounder? Also the washington has to go through the class first and then there is also a heavier background check if it has an ar style platform or 25 round mag from what I've seen when I lived in Washington when this passed in like 2018. I know it doesn't make sense and we were like wtf when it passed. So some Oregon FFL won't even mess with it.

I bought a few semi auto 22s recently, yep a 22 semi is considered a assault weapon in wa. Not only do you have to wait 10 or more days but there is a 18.00 tax on top of it all. Stupid plain and simple . Also you have to take a stupid online test of sorts ,print it and show it to person doing paperwork, and sign a paper that pretty much releases all medical records

Stocks and mags don't matter. Mechanics of operation make it an S A R

Transportation of an "Assault weapon" and weapon of war over state lines, brave..

Alexx1401 nailed it.

Some of you do not understand satire either

What the average citizen doesn't know, is the U.S. Military has been using 10/22s (22lr) on helicopters forever.

Watch the video, do not get hung up on deceiving words like, iraq, minigun, get sum etc.. all 10/22 in this video (don't believe me?, google it!)

This is why Libs do not want you to own a rapid fire assault 10/22

This particular gun had a stainless bull barrel, and if I recall, a laminated stock.
More pretty, than menacing.

It's quite simple. Semi auto rifle is a semi auto rifle. Magazine capacity is irrelevant. The problem is that the Oregon FFL doesn't want to make an effort and doesn't understand the law so instead of taking a risk or using common sense they just say that they can't do it. Exactly the same thing with the Fostech and Binary triggers.
RCW 9.41.010
19) "Machine gun" means any firearm known as a machine gun, mechanical rifle, submachine gun, or any other mechanism or instrument not requiring that the trigger be pressed for each shot and having a reservoir clip, disc, drum, belt, or other separable mechanical device for storing, carrying, or supplying ammunition which can be loaded into the firearm, mechanism, or instrument, and fired therefrom at the rate of five or more shots per second.

Nowhere in this would a binary or fostech trigger be considered making it a machine gun. But you still can't have one shipped here. No such thing as a Liberal! It's Socialist with either Fascist or Communist leanings.

I've been to multiple OR stores/pawn shops and all said they would not sell to WA resident. The only exception was Fisherman's at Delta Park. They delivered my pistol to a WA FFL where i HAD TO PAY TAX and do all the paperwork. :s0037:
