I was wondering if anyone could tell me which republican candidates have the best chance of winning the election in Oregon. I don't want to waste my vote on someone who doesn't stand a chance. It would be nice to see Republicans or even libertarians take over control of this "socialist" state.

Unfortunately, I just don't think the Repubs have a chance this time, plus there are way too many running that will "Split" the vote among them, making it all but impossible to get ONE in! Remember, MultiCo decides for the whole state, and that's a serious up hill battle.

Best bet I think we have is Betsy Johnson, an independent, and you will have to Write her Name in on your ballot, as the state does not include an option for any other party but Dem or Repub!

Not really any one good Republican this time around, but of them, Bob Tiernan looks to be the best of the bunch, if we have a chance, I would say he would be it!

There's not enough registered Republicans in Oregon to defeat the Democrats without appealing and grabbing a significant chunk of the Non-Affiliated Voters and Independents/3rd Parties. This is where I personally think Betsy Johnson would have the best dang chance to win. Most recently counted, the N.A. voters outnumber the Democrats, by a slim margin.

Edit. Why aren't there more Republicans left... because a lot of them are moving out of Oregon, to places like Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Arizona, Utah, Texas.

I believe the red team will never control this state, unfortunately. I'll vote anyway, though it's a lost cause

Ok. thank you for responding. That being said though, which republican do you think is the best?

I'm voting Betsy Johnson. Wife is also voting Betsy Johnson. Write ins. Until (right... ) the Primaries in Oregon become 100% open and not closed to a third of the voting population, write-ins really the best option.

That's cool. Sounds like Betsy Johnson might have a fighting chance. Too bad it has to be written in. That little detail could make or break it.

Here's my thinking on this!
Dems are BAD for Orygun, been there, done that!
Repubs are very weak, none are really worth a damn!
We have serious carrier politics which define how this state is run, never good for us, and our drunken orgy of taxes is proof!

The ONLY chance we have to turn this state around and find some sort of political equilibrium is to clear out the Dem Super majority, and the best/only chance of ever doing that is to get someone who understands the problems and can deal with all sides of it with an Iron Hand! I think Betsy Johnson is our best hope, she has the backing and the war chest to pull it off, but the most important thing is she is NOT a Dem or Repub, and THAT makes her a threat to both sides of the establishment. Think about it, Betsy is in a unique place where she can really hammer the issues with out the baggage of Party Politics, and She isn't in bed with any group, so there is no real outside influences that can push her, I.E. No Mike Bloomingturd, no George Soros moneys and influence. That's important. Betsy can also rail against BOTH parties and force them to ether bargain for the better, or dry up and go away, AND, Betsy can stand up against the crooks in all areas of State Government, from the Supreme court, all the way down to ODFW! I think this is Oryguns best hope. 4 Years of Betsy holding both parties by the balls might just get things done for the good of this state, 8 years of Betsy squeezing both parties balls makes the changes stick for good! I think a Non Party Governor is Oregon's best chance to fix this dumpster fire, and get this state back on track!

I think Betsy is the strongest ally we could want, she has the brass to take on the cities and their corruption, she can force Tear Gas Teddy to ether step up and do what's right, or GTFO, same with the City Clownsil and that Azzhole Mike Sh!tz! Holding their feet to the fire would be a good start, getting rid of them would be even better! Busting the A.G. would also be a biggy, and making sure Tina Kotex never sees the inside of any public office ever again would be awesome. Kicking K8 out and ensuring she never has a voice, and holding our Senators and Congress critters feet to the fire is also a biggy, and I think Betsy knows how to do all that, or will have some very powerful allies to help her get it done!!!

Look at who is funding her campaign, Phil Knight has bank rolled her good this time, Dudes solid Red and does a lot of good for Orygun, He also holds sway over a lot of other OryGun business's which makes him a threat to the establishment, and he is a solid conservative who knows how broken this state is and knows Betsy might be our only chance to change it!

This is my thinking on it, share yours!

Repubs can not win an election in Oregon with mail in ballots. No matter how many votes a republican gets there will always be enough votes in Portland that the repub loses. Portland is always the last to finish counting so the election is easy to rig.

Its the "nonaffiliated voters" that both sides have to convince/get votes from. That is also very likely where a lot of the "rigging" comes from. However, if Betsy gets a significant number of voters from write ins on both sides, there is a good chance that she could basically pull a Sanders in Oregon

Some democrats, may not be democrats at all, and may be registered as democrats to try and swing the vote to the most conservative democratic candidate, when its time for the general election, they vote for which ever rebublican has the best chance of winning.
