Tried rabbit for the first time this week

Everyone should try rabbit, however obtained. Domestic rabbits are easy to raise and yield a fair amount of meat for the work that goes into it for those of you into the self reliance thing. Better than raising chickens. Wild rabbits are best when well marinated and then cooked under a little steam. There are plenty of good recipes in the older cookbooks. Rabbit was regular fare when I was growing up....squirrel too.

Over dogs, shotgun. Still hunting, .22lr solids. HP'S destroy to much meat. Lite loads in scattergun, they are easy to kill. Kind of, well, soft as bunnys!

When I was A kid we used to hunt wabbits with A wrist rocket sling shot. We ate lots of small critters back then but I will never eat A possum again thats just plain nasty.

Not to hijack the thread but maybe someone here would know. How does rabbit compare to guinea pig for preparation and taste? I've heard rabbit is a lot leaner and can be a bit harder to prepare so it doesn't dry out on you.

easiest way to remember when rabbits are good is wait till the first hard frost then you are pretty safe

Sep. has an r but the weather didn't cooperate and the bugs inside are still kickin the first hard frost takes care of the little buggers
