Thinking about taking the train from Kelso to Seattle with my 8 yr old. Is anyone familiar with security procedures? Can't really find anything on amtrack site.

Yes. It did not reference any CCW. Kelso station where i will be boarding is un staffed. Do they have metal detectors? What about Seattle? Not much info available. Guess I could attempt to jump through the hoops and and check a bag, but that's inconvenient for a day trip. Just wondering if anyone has recent experience.

I have never seen a metal detector in any Amtrak station. I know the one in Vancouver and Everett doesn't have one.

I've gotten on/off the trains at random stations and had people with wands waiting for me. It was rare but its happened. It's a good idea NOT to get on one with a firearm. Even a knife. I got away with pepper spray just fine. Maybe one of those ceramic knives would have been ok.
