Future archaeologists will probably have some weird ideas about us if all they recover is a couple DVDs like Dark Knight and Die Hard... :)

Maybe the Obama era of gun buying will be remembered in history like Tulip speculation in the Netherlands was... :)

I think the Mayans must have discovered tequila about the time they were working on their calender. Suddenly, carving rock became less important than that warm, happy tequila feeling...

Sigh...milsurps.

I have a Turk Mauser I bought in 1988 or so. I am pretty sure it was $25 at a gun show in East Michigan. Pulled it out of a barrel of Turks, all stored muzzle down (grrrr).

Today I could sell that for $400. I've seen them at gun shows, lovingly presented on felt - "please don't touch without asking".

Even Mosin-Nagants are going for $200 some places. Sheesh!

There's two separate things at work here:

  • The current gun panic
  • We haven't had a world war dominated by bolt-action rifles in a long while and the guns from the last one are pretty much gone.
