This was brought up in another post fairly recently. No memory of what the original post was, but probably another one of yours...Anybody been doing this type of stuff shedding lately. I have some old socks I could part with.
In any case, I do a maintenance purge about every 6 months and a deep clean purge annually. Despite my trying to be diligent in not bringing unnecessary things into my little corner of the world, it inevitably still happens.
I hate clutter and I don't hold onto to things that are not useful to me on regular basis. If I haven't used something or even thought about it in 6 months to a year it goes bye-bye. The only exception to this rule is things that may be passed down through generations. Might not get used regularly, but it does have a lot in life and so it gets to stay.
Ultimately this is a me thing, but I know it'll ease the burden for my family when I'm gone. That and the fact that what I do have, keep, and use is very well organized so I know that'll make things easier for them too.
