How,? I was just there too and was told people were in line way before opening? I didn't get a ticket for a balloon but they evidently had a bunch of balloons still. Weird thing, I had the email and everything. Didn't care much and bought my powder and primers anyway.

Btw. What is up with cabelas prices??? The Federal primers are 2.89 at sportsmans and 4.49 at cabelas.I recently bought 2 bottles of trailboss at bimart for $12 each/regular 15.. 24.99 at cabelas... holy crap!? I cant imagine people don't know about the average price for such items.

Honestly, for the chance of getting 5-10% off...or even 20%, I don't stand in line. That's a margin I can find online. If it was between 50 and 100%...yeah.
Cabelas prices have always been higher. They don't give a S either. If we loose Bimart, we will be left with higher prices and online orders with shipping.

Cabelas will price match though. Sportsmans ran an add for a $180 10/22 (the carbine one) and I was already at Cabelas...showed them the add and they price matched it. Then also got the military discount on top of that (wife is a veteran, Cabelas is nice enough to extend the discount to me when I buy. What's mine is hers and what's hers is hers, right?)

I don't know if they will match everything but they did a gun for me...can't complain.

Albany's was nuts. Parking lot was completely full. Black Friday looked the store was closed. Just got a few things and ended up with a 15% off. Then went shooting in the snow which was actually kind of fun.

I went to the one in Salem around 10:30 this morning. Checkout line was to the back wall nearly. Didn't want to wait that long to take a gamble on a hopeful good deal. While walking in, a guy was walking out saying he got 65% off. He had a Ruger rifle box in hand. Good for him! I didn't want to wait an hour plus to chance it.

Well.. I made use of that $3 off thing at bimart too :). I was just shocked to see the cabelas prices on the reloading stuff. had a giftcard so I got something else.

Bought the primers and 296 powder and such at sportsmans today, no discount:(

I wandered into the Vancouver Sportsmen's at 1:15 I was told they had given out all the tickets hours earlier.
The gal said there was a big line waiting at the door when they opened.
Oh well...

I told my husband about this SW deal and told him that he should check it out.

We did not need any item but he did look around the store a bit. He did not buy anything.

He did talk to a man at the gun counter who told him about that new GLOCK 22lr pistol. The man told him that they get in about 2 of those new pistols on a Friday (?) and by Saturday they are sold.

My husband wanted to see what they looked like even though he will wait a BIT to get one IF he even gets one at all due to ALL of the complaints that we have read online here and all over the place after the FIRST initial reports.

My husband did want to see one in person but he had no luck there.

The salesman told my husband that he has NOT heard of any complaints from customers who bought the new Glock pistol at their SW store here in town.

There is a salesman there (SW) who owns several Glock pistols in various models and calibers. I have talked to him in person and on the telephone over the years. I do not know if that specific salesman bought one of the new Glock 22lr pistols yet or not.

My husband said that the store was not super, super busy but he went there in the afternoon. He said that it was medium busy. Steady stream of customers. He hit the gym and walked/exercised in the early morning as always and took his nap before he went to SW.

Went to my local sportsman's this year and was about 10 seconds away from winning 100% off. Guy in front of me won. You can get savings up to $5000 you can go up there and buy a bunch of stuff and if you get a large discount, actually buy it. If you don't get a large discount, you can say never mind, I don't need all of that stuff. But you cannot go back and get more stuff once you pop a balloon. So I had a cart full of stuff, optics, ammo, 3 guns at the gun counter. Got 10% off and bought 6 boxes of ammo instead

Let's discuss that for a moment.

If a person brought up merchandise and then pops a balloon for whatever discount.......and then walks because the discount is too small.......separate from the fact that it's a dick move to begin with and a waste of people's time, that person is also screwing someone behind them in line that might be perfectly happy with that discount or someone who now won't get a balloon at all because of someone else's selfishness.

Don't be a tool. The world has enough as it is.

I discussed this with the manager, Jeff, he worked there since the beginning when I was there. He said this year was pretty good. Only one Dbag pulled this stunt. He had over 4K in scopes, hunting gear, ammo, and such. Got a 15% and tried bailing on a majority of his items.

He said that the biggest issue this year was the shear quantity of folks that were trying to buy guns instead of other stuff. They ran out of tickets around 1030-11 but had balloons to pop up till 2 because folks were waiting at the gun counter forever.

They had a Ruger Ranger I would have bought, but I didn't want to wait in the chaos that existed in the gun area.

This is precisely why I walked in around 10. Said ah bubblegumthisshiz around 10:20. And was home again to hang with the family by 10:30.

Just couldn't take the wait.

Well, it's good to know that they don't put the coupons back in the supply.

Hey, I got an idea. Let's get 5 or so guys together and amass a cart of items.

Guy 1 takes it to the counter. Gets 5% discount. Says nah.
Guy 2 right behind him says, I'll take his stuff, not to worry. Tries again.

Rinse and repeat until a decent discount or last guy. Last guy buys no matter what. Settle up the tab in the parking lot.

Better chance of a good balloon if you team up. Whose with me for next year?

There are better ways to have a promotion.

Some have said that its a D move to walk out on the offer.

I say that its a D move to not give me the ballon/discount coupon 1st.

Seems to me that they are trying to shame us into following through on the purchase.

NOBODY forces me to buy something if I don't want to.

I take it you never gamble? Nothing in Nevada? Nothing at the Indian Casinos, etc? No judgment from me at all. I would understand. It just seems like "Gambling" where you're going to win (something) for sure.

I lived in South Lake Tahoe and Carson city area for 30 yrs. Only went to the Casinos to eat or see a show.

I do play poker, but that's a game with friends and I assume that I'll walk away empty.

I won't buy anything without doin the research and getting the best deal that I can. It's just the way that I was brought up.

I'll wait weeks and months to get the gun that I want, just to pay less.

I'm not poor, but I'll bend over to pick up a penny.

I agree with the one man from CDA that there are better ways to run a promotion.
