I likes me a good shottie, have a couple I carried "professionally" before I retired and took my shotties with me. "Shottie" is a shortened, slang term for a firearm we all know can be very versatile. One of said shotties is an 870 with night sights and some other non-stock improvements. Kicks out various slug and buck loads. Dunno why the term would honk anyone off...

It's just one of those words that hits a nerve with some folks, I've never been a big fan myself.
That said, I've used the term "shootydoo" to describe firearms, so I can't go casting any stones here...
