Should I change or update my Avatar?

I see others do it and it kinda throws me off.
I'm use to that little picture. And when it changes. I almost feel like I'm not reading post's from the same person?

I don't like avatar changes unless it's the first few weeks - after that you should just keep it.

I also get thrown off by avatar changes and sometimes it takes me a few days to realize its the same person.
